I have changed my group from black guys between the age of eighteen and twenty two at East Carolina University to pregnant girls in college.  The artifacts found so far are very intersting and very abundant.  There is a lot of information out there on this topic, ranging from a variety of topics, from their options, journal entries of girls in this position, adoption, abortion... There is just a lot of information... Hopefully all this will be very helpful!

My first observation was done at Todd Dining Hall where I noticed where black guys sat, how they acted, most of them prayed.  Then I went to the bus stop at the top of the hill and observed there.  I realized how they interacted with each other and with girls, and with girls that paid them attention Observing in general is intersting!

My interview questions:

Describe your typical day.

Do you pray before your meals?

Why/Why Not?

What do you think about how more black guys pray before their meals than white guys?

Do you think you are treated any differently because of your race?

What stereotypes do you think are placed on you?

Do you agree or disagree?

Why?

Is their anything else you would like others to know about black college males?

I have chosen to observe black males here on campus between the age of eighteen and twenty-two. Some people are doing guys in general and that's too broad for me, I have to have a focus. So, I plan to observe black guys at various places and various times. Then I will interview random guys and ask them about their life. I want to observe at Todd Dining Hall and the bus stop at the top of the hill, and then maybe somewhere else. I'm not sure who I'll interview, but that will come I'm sure.

I think that Atheism is very interesting.  I am a Christian, therefore I would not want to become one, but I think that they are interesting people.  When I have questions, I usually base my answers on my religion and look for my answers in the Bible and praying to God...What do they do, where do they get their answers from?  I think their beliefs are really cool and I would like to learn more about how they explain things on this earth...

Also, I think that gay guys are absolutely HILARIOUS!!!  Now, I am in a serious relationship, heterosexual relationship, and homosexuality is not the way for me...but I think that it is interesting as well...I love being around gay guys, they just crack me up!  Will and Grace is a great show and I love it, and how the gay guys make me laugh...

Hmm, and also I think that I would like to study lawyers...I want to be a teacher, and that will never change...But I think that lawyers are so interesting...They have such influence over someone's life, they determine what will happen in someone's life basically...I would just like to be a fly on a wall during the entire process from someone hiring their lawyer until the trial is over with, during each meeting and everything involved, so that I could see what all happens during all of that...Really cool stuff...

Okay, so this could quite possibly be one of the most boring things I've ever read in my entire life... Honestly...but, we had to read it, so...I'm not really sure what we are supposed to be writing about, but, I think we are supposed to summarize it.  So this Rick Zollo guy observed a truck stop.  When first reading this, I was like, a truck stop?? C'mon now, but if that is intersting for him...then get on it...Anyways, it was this truck stop in Iowa called Iowa 80 and he observed what happened and what went on in this truck stop, and he wrote about it.

If I was to observe something, I think I'd enjoy observing children playing.  I LOVE KIDS! a lot...I was in a leadership position at a YMCA Summer Camp this past summer and I went around and observed the kids playing a lot and I loved it.  I won't go into a lot of detail and bore you, but I think that children are very interesting...I mean, they are our future...But just watching them is a great thing...Feel free to give me some guidance and advice...Thanks!

Alrighty, I can think of so many groups I have been a part of...Here are a few...

All of my life I have been a part of Amelia United Church of Christ.  I don't know what you would call this group, but my parents are still happily married, which is becoming pretty rare in today's world.  Since a year and a half ago, I have been in an interracial relationship.  Right now I am a college student, and a broke one at that.  This year, I am one of the many people who live in a dorm.  In November, I became a sister in  Gamma Sigma Sigma.  Along with many other brave souls, I am a Special Education major, focusing in Behavior and Emotional Handicaps.

Now, to go into detail, I will talk about my boyfriend and our relationship, and I will talk about living in a dorm.  First off, being part of an interracial relationship...There are many people in interracial relationships, ranging across all races.  My specific relationship is between me, a white girl, and my boyfriend, Derrick, a black guy.  To be an "insider to this group" you would need to know that even though it is 2004 people are still close-minded when it comes to that kind of thing.  However, this is different depending on where you live.  I, unfortunately, live in the South where "blacks and whites don't mix."  In other places, other races may be looked down upon when "mixing" with a different race.  And, in other places, it isn't even a problem.  People getting into this type of relationship should understand that you will get stares and comments due to your partner, and it will be tough, but if you go into it knowing these things and are willing to deal with the consequences, you and your partner can make it...It is possible!

Next, when deciding where I wanted to live for school, I also had to decide on the roommate situation.  I decided to live with someone I knew, Courtney, and I am happy of that decision.  You hear the horror stories of living with people you previously knew from high school, but it hasn't been like that for us.  My problem with the living conditions is that I am used to having my own room, bathroom, space, along with my own dresser, nightstand, and closet to fill my clothes in.  Where, here at school, I have to share a room that is smaller than my room at home that I have by myself, and I have one side of a dresser and a half-the-size closet of my one at home.  Also, there are eight showers, eight sinks, seven toilets, and two washers and dryers for about fifty-five girls, ranging in age of 18-22...C'mon now...For someone to become an "insider" of living in dorms, they should know ahead of time that they will have a small living quarter, share their space, take turns in the showers where you must where flip-flops and the water temperature and pressure are everchanging, and you have to fight to wash your clothes.  Luckily, I have a great roommate, I mean, we have our tiffs, but we always work through them.  Living in the dorms, I have met so many new people, and it has made me become more appreciative for what I have.  So, it's not a terrible group to be a part of, I'd do it all over again, but it does take some getting used to!
